WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT TREVISO AIRPORT there
are three possible ways to get to Venice
Ryanair bus (€4.30 single/€7.60
return, about 35 minutes). A bus links directly to every Ryanair flight to
take you to Piazzale Roma. The bus takes around 35 minutes although
the timetable says it takes 70! Buy your ticket in the arrivals hall. (Pick
up the timetable for your return journey, or print
it out from here.) The bus leaves about 30 minutes after the flight lands.
Once you have arrived at Piazzale Roma, see below.
Taxi and train (about €8 based
on two people sharing a taxi - the taxi journey to the station should cost
€13 and the rail fare about €2.) There is a fair chance of finding
a taxi waiting outside, but a better bet, if you have a mobile, is to order
one while you are in the baggage claim area on 0422 63 15 15. Ask for "ferrovia
di Treviso". The trains are frequent (roughly every 30 minutes) and take
only 30 minutes to get to Santa Lucia station, which is on the Grand Canal
- see below.
If you want to catch a taxi all the way
to Venice, ask for Piazzale Roma. The journey costs around €55
and takes about 30 minutes. At Piazzale Roma, see below.
WHEN YOU GET TO PIAZZALE ROMA / THE RAILWAY STATION you can catch waterbuses to your onwards destination in Venice. Numbers 1 and 82 go along the Grand Canal; numbers 41/42, 51/52 go around the outer edges of the island, anticlockwise and clockwise respectively. Scam warning: some bus drivers direct people to "waterbuses" when in fact they are in league with unofficial taxi services that charge 10 or 20 times as much as a waterbus ticket. When the bus parks, to get to either the waterbuses or the official taxi service you need to walk across Piazzale Roma to the left of the long side of the vehicle; if the driver indicates that you should go in the direction behind it, ignore him.
