Flights from the UK

The direct flight takes just under two hours. Low cost airlines have revolutionised travel from Britain to Venice. It’s a bit of a maze, so to simplify it follow this link for our handy table showing the most useful direct flights. One of the most recommended airlines is EasyJet, which flies from London Gatwick, Bristol, Belfast and East Midlands airports to Venice Marco Polo – just on the edge of the lagoon. (EasyJet also flies to Milan.) With three flights a day in summer from Stansted to Venice Treviso, and flights from East Midlands and Bristol as well, Ryanair often undercuts EasyJet, and also flies to Verona Brescia and Trieste. BMI fly from East Midlands to Venice, again at very low prices. jet2.com fly from Manchester, Leeds Bradford and Edinburgh airports to Marco Polo; and Monarch fly from Manchester, Birmingham and Gatwick. British Airways are not usually as competitive on price, but it is worth checking – they fly from London Gatwick. Always book online if you can – there is usually a discount for doing so. Flights from the United States to Venice

Delta Airlines fly direct from the USA to Venice: from Atlanta then JFK New York to Venice Marco Polo. US Airways flies from Philadelpia to Venice. Otherwise, you can fly to Venice changing at the respective hubs of British Airways (London), Lufthansa (Frankfurt), Alitalia (Rome) and Air France (Paris).

Trains

The official Trenitalia site is the best guide to all railway timetables from Venice. Enter Venice as Venezia S.Lucia. We have found the trains from Venice to be punctual, clean and offering excellent connections.

Waterbuses

Venice’s excellent ACTV transport organisation has its own English-language site with interactive timetables for all the vaporetti plying the waters of the lagoon, as well as land buses. To find out about all-inclusive waterbus tickets, see our information on Venice Connected.

Our Casa della Sensa is at one of the best locations in the city for waterbus airport transfers – it is the second Alilaguna waterbus stop on the main island of Venice that you will reach as you come from the airport on the Linea Arancia (orange line).
