Low-cost airlines to Venice serve several destinations in Northern Italy. When you arrive, you'll enjoy older forms of transport - an efficient fleet of waterbuses and punctual, economical trains. But delightfully, no cars are seen or needed anywhere in the city ...

Flights from the UK

The direct flight takes just under two hours. Low cost airlines have revolutionised travel from Britain to Venice. It's a bit of a maze, so to simplify it follow this link for our handy table showing the most useful direct flights. One of the most recommended airlines is EasyJet, which flies from London Gatwick, Bristol, Belfast and East Midlands airports to Venice Marco Polo - just on the edge of the lagoon. (EasyJet also flies to Milan.) With three flights a day in summer from Stansted to Venice Treviso, and flights from Liverpool and Luton as well, Ryanair often undercuts EasyJet, and also flies to Verona Brescia and Trieste. BMI fly from Heathrow to Venice, again at very low prices. Thomsonfly flies from Gatwick to Marco Polo, and has recently been joined by jet2.com, flying from Leeds Bradford airport to Marco Polo. British Airways are not usually as competitive on price, but it is worth checking - they fly from London Gatwick. Always book online if you can - there is usually a discount for doing so. Flights from the United States to Venice

Delta Airlines fly direct from the USA to Venice: from Atlanta then JFK New York to  Venice Marco Polo. US Airways flies from Philadelpia to Venice. Otherwise, you can fly to Venice changing at the respective hubs of NorthWest (Amsterdam), British Airways (London), Lufthansa (Frankfurt), Alitalia (Rome) and Air France (Paris).

Trains

Waterbuses
