open the four main sections.
Click on each to see sub-pages listed in the purple bar, left.
This is a sub- page of a main section: when you click on a new top button, the list will change. The page you are in is highlighted - lighter background, darker text
Dark blue text is for emphasis, not links
Light blue text opens a link or an animation.
Grey-blue text
shows you have previously visited the linked page
Almost every picture enlarges when you click on it.
To scan through all the pages on the site, see our site map. It will help if you are trying to get back to a page and you are not sure where it is.
External sites open in a new browser window, and this site stays open underneath. Just close any external site window to return to this one.
I can't see everything onscreen. The site is too large for monitors of 640 x 480 pixels, although of course you can scroll to see the content. If your monitor displays 800 x 600 pixels or more you should find no problems with the site. Internet Explorer users will do well to hide the Explorer bar (it massively reduces the amount of space you have to view sites).
The site is slow to load. There could be numerous different reasons for this, including local conditions on the network service from your internet service provider. But it's fair to say you are probably going to find the site a little sluggish if you are using a modem that is slower than 56k. We hope it's worth the wait.
When I enlarge the text, it runs over some of the pictures and the site looks a mess. This can be easily remedied by setting your text zoom (Internet Explorer) or text size (Netscape) at "100%" or "medium", or, failing that, "120%" or "larger" will allow you to read most of the site. If you often find you need to enlarge the text of websites we would recommend you consider changing to the Opera browser, which allows you to zoom in on a web page without experiencing this problem. But if you find the text too small at 100%, please do email us; if enough people want it, we will enlarge the standard size.
