Casa Battello is on a sotoportego - a typical Venetian side-street. The Battello canal end is seen above ... from this end you can only leave by boat! At the other end you can walk onto the wide fondamenta of the Cannaregio canal. The house is a few metres away from the end of the sotoportego - it doesn't look out directly over a canal.
