Rent an apartment in Venice, Italy: CASA TRE ARCHI

Casa Tre Archi is a two-bedroomed self catering apartment at the top of a 17th-century merchant's building looking over the Cannaregio canal. It has been beautifully renovated, with new marble floors throughout – except for the living room, which has kept its original terrazzo floor of tiny nuggets of coloured marble.

The living room looks out over the canal, the lagoon and the 'Tre Archi' bridge. Here the historical romance of Venice mingles with the interest of daily life. From this window you can see the Venetian tides rising and falling, and view the parade of working boats that ply this important 'Royal Canal': waterbuses, delivery barges and private motorboats. On a clear day, if you look to the left you will see the snow caps of the Dolomites rising above the Veneto plain; turn to the right and you are looking into the city along one of Venice's grandest canals (show panoramic view, including video clips).

If your party is larger than five people, this flat is for rental together with Casa Battello - the two properties are just five minutes' walk from each other.

THE FLAT IN DETAIL

(Click here to enlarge the floor plan.) The light, airy and cool sitting/dining room has comfortable casual seating for five people (show photos), and an eating area with a dining table that seats five (show photo). (Should you wish to rent both our properties at once, it can expand with extra leaves to seat up to 10 people; the five extra chairs are stored in the attic.)

When you are catering for yourself, it's always a pleasure to have a really outstanding kitchen. Our fully equipped fitted kitchen has double sink, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer (show photo). The breakfast/preparation table seats three; larger parties can sit at the dining table in the sitting/dining room.

The spacious double bedroom has a king-sized double bed and plenty of storage space (show photo). It has air conditioning built in. The window looks out over a small courtyard and over a wall into a row of Venetian gardens.

The twin bedroom has two single beds (show photo) that are designed to fit together as a double when required (show photo). It too is air-conditioned. Two windows look out over the courtyard.

The bathroom has a bath, a good shower and the loo (show photo). There is a washing machine for your clothes, and a line on which you can dry them strung across the courtyard.

You can therefore sleep four in the two bedrooms, and an extra one person can sleep on the sofabed in the living room. There is a storage chest in the living room for bedding to be stored during the day - but please note that we have not fitted the sitting room with wardrobe space - those who stay in the living room can use the ample wardrobe space in the main bedroom to store away personal possessions during the daytime.

The entire flat measures around 75m2.

The flat was completely renovated between 1997 and 2001, and is decorated to a very high standard. We have equipped it to help visitors enjoy the dazzling art and architecture and marvellous fresh food Venice has to offer. After a day walking around Venice you can leaf through our selection of books about the city, including guides, walks, some hefty art books, and recipe books (show photo - we believe we have catered for most tastes!). With the well-equipped, fitted kitchen you can make the most of the fish and vegetable markets just around the corner, and the cornucopian markets near the Rialto bridge. There is a folder of tips about shops, restaurants and travel in Venice; we shall welcome your own findings to add to it.

There are also some other little touches to make life comfortable and easy in Venice: a telephone (you keep a note of calls and pay us when you return the keys), a washing machine, clothes line, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, a big English/Italian dictionary - and a range of wellies. We also supply a child's pushchair, travel cot and baby bath with changing mat.

The house is gas centrally heated (not much in demand between April and October); the heater gives hot water as you need it. The two bedrooms are air-conditioned. All the bedding and towels you need are provided (excepting linen for the baby cot). All main windows have mosquito screens to keep midges at bay.

The flat is diagonally opposite a vaporetto (public water bus) stop on the giracittà ('circling the city') routes.

So if you are planning a romantic holiday in Venice, renting this apartment is a great way to see the city - you will find an excellent standard of accommodation at a competitive price. See what our visitors have to say about staying in our accommodation.
